This is a fabulous activity that does require a little patience as the children watch the snowflakes develop.
You will need Pipe Cleaners, a flat-bottomed dish, water and salt.
Make a pipe cleaner “snowflake” shape and place it in the dish. Pour water into the dish so the pipe cleaner can be completely immersed.
Add salt into the water, stir and keep adding salt until you can see the salt accumulating.
Leave the snowflake in the water until the salt stops sticking to it, keep checking back on it. When it's done, take out and hang up
